Our volunteers are a group of special people which span all ages and all backgrounds who volunteer some of their time to help others and find personal fulfillment. Volunteers are committed to the mission of Spectrum Generations and to our consumer's right to choice. A positive attitude is essential and you must be reliable; please let us know when you cannot fulfill your commitment. Volunteers must be able to relate to and establish rapport with the elderly and have sensitivity to the needs of individuals and possess strong communication and listening skills. Our current volunteer needs are listed below.
- Play a supporting role in our life-saving Meals on Wheels Program by becoming a Meals on Wheel Assessor! Assessors collect pertinent information including observations about general health, physical condition, frailty, mental health problems, or domestic conditions.
- Provide companionship, conversation and support to lonely, older, homebound persons in the senior's home as a volunteer Friendly Visitor. Enjoy going for a short walk, playing cards or other mutually agreed upon activities such as letter reading and writing. You will help an older person retain their independence, maintain their emotional well being, maintain a higher quality of life through social interaction.
- Stay active, meet new people, expand your horizons and make a difference in your community. Share your hobbies, talents or crafts by leading a group activity at one of our community centers or assist in the planning of activities and events. Be a volunteer Activity Planner and let our consumers appreciate you! Activity aides needed in our Adult Day Health Program.
- Travel along county roads and to exciting destinations as a volunteer Driver. Deliver meals to homebound seniors using your vehicle or drive our activity van for planned field trips. Help our Nutrition Program by picking up food donations from local grocery stores. On-call drivers also needed for our Adult DayBreak & Nutrition program.
- Magicians, clowns, balloon sculptures/artists needed. Be an Entertainer for our Adult Day Health program. Bring smiles and laughter to our consumers! Share your special skill or craft in an active senior day care environment.
- Behind every good cook there are helpers ready to do whatever is asked of them. If you are you interested in helping create excellent food and assisting our skilled & fun kitchen staff, be a volunteer Kitchen Assistant.
- Socialize as you sachet in our dining rooms assisting with our Social Dining program. Wait staff, hostesses, and serving assistants are needed especially those who are willing to come on short notice. Helping with set up and clean up is most appreciated.
- If you enjoy answering phones and helping with all the busy details that keep an office efficient then our Receptionist - Center Support position is for you. Meet new people and use your talents to help us better assist consumers.
